Today, cat lovers across the globe are celebrating World Cat Day- 2025, a special occasion dedicated to our feline friends. Established in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare, this day is all about raising awareness for cat welfare, encouraging adoption, and, of course, showering our whiskered companions with extra love.
Whether they’re mischievous kittens or wise old mousers, cats have a unique way of curling up not just on our laps, but in our hearts. They’ve been our companions for thousands of years — from sacred temple cats in ancient Egypt to the Instagram-famous pets of today.
Pritha Gogia from Mumbai smiles and says, “The sass is what gives me a run for my money. There is also the loving cuddles and the regular scratches and paw slaps. Her and I are always hungry. That’s our bonding point. However anyone else may put it, she’s by baby!”
If you’re lucky enough to share your home with a cat, today’s the perfect excuse to indulge them with treats, new toys, or just a good long cuddle. And if you don’t have one? Visit your local shelter — your future best friend might just be waiting for you.
